Our Values

A truly different approach to childcare

At Mes Enfants, we are very proud of our nursery and its reputation which has been created out of a real ‘want’ for the children with us to be happy and stimulated. Call us for more details.

Our staff

Located in Mumbles, our nursery accommodates up to 12 staff, which ensures a very high staffing ratio to children.  The majority of our staff have worked at the nursery for over 7 years and our longest serving member over 11 years! Our staff have attended a variety of courses including first aid, food hygiene, fire safety, child protection, health and safety, manual handling training, learning through play, Welsh in a childcare setting, Forest school and many, many more!!
We ensure that our staff are regularly attend courses to increase their knowledge, expertise and personal development. All staff have undergone DBS checks which are updated every 3 years (including references and in-depth interview).
All staff at the nursery are fully qualified and chosen for the genuinely excellent care, love and nurture they give the children. As a staff, we are an incredibly close team who are dedicated to the nursery and a real need to provide excellent care for the children we are privileged to look after.

The children are nurtured, sung to, played with, encouraged, cuddled and laughed with. The children are looked after as if they were our own because we couldn’t have it any other way! (Being a mother and ex-teacher I am able to empathise!).

Our nursery is redecorated once a year to create a new interesting environment for your children each year.  We also recycle as much of the waste we produce, as possible. Currently, paper, metal, glass, plastic and food are recycled. We also have all fruit and vegetables delivered completely plastic free and wherever possible other foods are delivered as sustainably as possible.   We have completed a sustainability study and are working towards being as environmentally friendly as we can!! Our next project is our wormery!! All new starters receive our special canvas tote bag AND a pack of plastic free, biodegradable wet wipes!

We have recently created a Well being corner that incorporates resources and ideas to encourage the children to talk about their well being and mental health in a safe space.  We feel it is vital for the children to be able to share their thoughts, beliefs or worries in a secure way.  We love our new Creative room that develops a child's natural artistic ability whilst also developing independence.

We offer personalised programme for each child

Personalised programme for each child

Each child has an individual teaching programme that ensures their playtime is carefully rotated so they spend time in each room. There is no regimented time for sleep either; sleep mats and careful organisation enable children to sleep when they want to and not to any time regime. In order for parents not to miss important moments, digital pictures are taken of meaningful, happy events in the child’s development and emailed to parents on a daily basis. Highly detailed reports are sent to parents by email at the end of each day, outlining all the day's activities.

Children in nappies are changed every 2 - 3 hours (unless they poo or wee in between!). We keep supplies of Sudocrem, Vaseline and Metanium at the nursery for sore bottoms in an emergency! We actively support and encourage potty training at the nursery when it starts. We have lots of systems (including stickers and certificates) to help with this activity!
Children who are toilet trained are taken to the toilet at least 4 times a day but are checked before and after snacks and meals and indeed, are offered the toilet throughout the day!
We create a new interesting environment for your children every year

Groups of children

The children are grouped not only according to age but also ability and development. As we know children all develop at different rates so children are moved only when they are ready.
  • Baby room (maximum of 6 babies with 2 permanent staff)
  • Le petite bebe (for children between 1 to 2 years of age)
  • Le petite enfant (for children between 2 to 3 years of age)
  • Le grande enfant (for children above 3 years of age)
  • All legal staff to child ratios strictly followed.
The ages shown above are simply guidelines. For example, we do not move babies from the baby room when they reach their 1st birthday; we move them when it is better for them, which may happen when they are 13-14 months of age.
Nursery meal menu
Welsh is encouraged at the nursery with games, story time, parachute time and many other activities. Children will go to school with an excellent basis of Welsh! The staff team have also completed the “Welsh Skills in Childcare” course.
